Fosters truly are the FRONT LINE for these dogs & a critical step in saving more lives! A foster home is a temporary living situation for dogs while they are awaiting placement in a permanent home. Foster families provide shelter, food, care, love, and guidance. All food, supplies, and veterinary expenses are covered by the rescue - you provide the home, love, care, and guidance! The number of dogs we can save depends entirely on the number of people who will open their homes and hearts to foster them. For some of these dogs, this will be their first experience being treated as a family pet. You are their salvation and you should never underestimate the important role you are playing in their lives!
Fostering a dog allows our rescue to save more dogs from euthanasia and abandonment.
Fostering is a great choice if you are unsure if adopting is the right route for you. Fostering will allow you to gain experience with various breeds without the commitment of adopting!
Fostering is one of the most essential roles in our rescue as we do not have a facility for our dogs.
Fosters will need to commit to helping our rescue pups adjust to a life in a home. We ask you to provide our dogs the love and structure they need to know they are safe.
Responsibilities may include:
Yes! If you have a job, it is okay with us!
We ask that our foster dogs are cared for most of the day, but it is also important for them to adjust to every day life.
No, you do not have to have foster experience to foster with us. During the foster interview process, we will discuss our expectations and rules to be a foster with us. If you are committed to helping us, there is no experience needed!
Fosters do not get paid, but they are not financially responsible for the rescue dog they have in their home.
Full Circle Rescue provides all the essentials for you to care for the dog, including a crate, dog bed, food, vetting, toys, treats, and anything else that is needed. In the event we are unable to directly provide supplies, we will quickly reimburse any and all expenses.
Yes! You can foster if you have pets or children in your home.
We ask that you be transparent with what your capabilities are for settling a rescue dog into your home. We want everyone to be safe and loved.
Unfortunately, there is never a specific amount of time of how long you will have a foster dog for.
If you are able to provide updates and tag our rescue on social media it will assist us in having your foster dog adopted.
If you get attached to your foster dog, we allow our fosters to adopt! We ask you to let us know as soon as possible so we can avoid disappointing any interested adopters.
We try our best to match fosters based on their lifestyle and based on the information we know about incoming dogs.
The only way that we can save dogs is with the help of foster homes. Being a foster family has rewards beyond the essential value of helping a pet in need find a new home. For some, it is a chance to have a dog companion without making a lifetime commitment, or to try new companions for an existing pet. Foster Care is critical to our rescue efforts, the more homes we have, the more dogs we can save. Becoming a foster family is a very rewarding experience, and can be a lot of fun. There are often tears shed when a foster finally finds a home of their own, but knowing you have saved a life and opened up space to save another is truly rewarding.
Fosters will keep dogs an average of 4-8 weeks. Some pets need more time because of age, illness, injury, or behaviour issues. Your time commitment will be discussed up-front before you agree to foster the pet, but most foster families keep the dog until the dog gets adopted.
