Doug is an enigma of a dog - both playful yet shy, happy yet scared. He has been coming out of his shell each and every day and is now ready to find his furever home that will continue with the dedication to his growth and development.
Doug came into Full Circle Rescue from Mexico where he shared his space with two others. He is currently fostered with other dogs and is learning from their cues how to respectfully interact with dogs in different life stages. He has been exposed to both male and female, old and young dogs, and has been able to play, learn and grow. His future adopter will understand that these introductions need to be supervised as he is still young and learning. He is particularly fond of his 6 year old foster brother because they participate in zoomies together, so a home with another active younger dog would be ideal. This dog would also help to show Doug proper boundaries and rules, while also showcasing confidence and comfort. Doug is shy when meeting new people and will retreat to his safe spaces such as his crate or under a table. His future adopters will need to be open to a dog that will take time to open up and trust, but once he does, he is the happiest, goofiest, most loving dog.
Like a true child, when corrected with his full name "Douglas", he understands that he needs to stop what he is doing. Doug would thrive in a home with a fully fenced in back yard for him to explore and get out his energy. Doug would also do best away from the scary noises of the city or loud roads, so a home in a rural or quiet neighbourhood would be best for him to decompress and fully settle. He also adores the outdoors, so someone who loves to be outside would be a great match for him.
