Meet Truffles!
Truffles is a small dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart, just waiting for the right person to help her feel safe and loved.
She is crate trained and currently working on her potty training. With consistency and routine, she is learning quickly and is well on her way to being fully house trained in no time. Truffles is also very trustworthy in the home, she is not destructive and can free roam comfortably for 3-5 hours when left alone.
Truffles can be a little protective of her food and toys, but this is easily managed with structure and by giving her space during those times. With clear boundaries, she does very well.
She is a sensitive and gentle soul who can be fearful of new people and other dogs. While she may bark when feeling unsure, this is simply her way of expressing discomfort. Truffles will need a patient and understanding adopter who can give her the time and space she needs to build confidence. Positive reinforcement training will be key in helping her feel secure and continue progressing.
On walks, Truffles does very well on leash, though she may get excited and pull if she spots squirrels. She can be vocal when meeting new people outside, especially if she feels unsure, and will benefit from slow, calm introductions.
Truffles has previously lived with both cats and dogs; however, she truly loves being the centre of attention. She would thrive as the only pet in the home, or with an experienced, dog-savvy owner who understands her needs and can manage introductions and boundaries appropriately.
At home, Truffles is affectionate in her own unique way. She enjoys being pet and loves sitting on her person’s lap, but prefers to initiate contact and be approached on her own terms. Once she trusts you, her sweet and goofy personality truly shines—and it’s impossible not to fall in love.
She is also very food motivated, which can be a great tool for training and can help with building positive associations when meeting new people.

• No children
• Preferably no other pets (or experienced, dog-savvy owner if there are pets)
• Someone who will give her space to settle in and let her build trust at her own pace
Truffles thrives with structure, routine, and kindness. She may take a little time to open up, but once she does, she becomes an incredibly loyal and loving companion. She’s independent, a little sassy, full of character, and happiest when she feels safe and understood.
