At just 2 years old and 53 pounds, this beautiful Shepherd/Malinois mix is intelligent, affectionate, and eager to build a lifelong bond with her person. Nala is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything you do - whether that's heading out for a hike, playing with her favourite toys, practicing her training, or simply relaxing together while she watches the world from the window.
Nala already has an impressive foundation. She is house-trained, rides beautifully in the car, and is comfortable being left alone. She knows several commands including sit, stay, leave it, heel, and okay, and truly enjoys learning. She's a bright, driven young dog who thrives when given structure, consistency, and clear expectations.
Once you've earned her trust, Nala's affectionate personality shines. She loves cuddles, enjoys spending quality time with her family, and forms incredibly strong bonds with the people she loves. Her foster describes her as "the most loving, loyal, and protective best friend you could ever ask for."
Like many young Shepherds, Nala is still learning that the world is a safe place. New people, unfamiliar noises, and other dogs can make her feel unsure, and she may become overstimulated or jumpy until she's redirected. Nala has met both small and large dogs but requires slow, thoughtful introductions. At this stage, she would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can focus on building her confidence and strengthening her bond with her family. She is not suited to a home with cats. While she hasn't been tested with young children, respectful older dog-savvy kids would likely be the best match given her energy level and sensitivity around new people.
