Meet Ato, The Great Explorer Turned Lovebug!
If Ato looks familiar, you’re not wrong. This adventurous boy made quite the impression when he decided to go on a little adventure of his own just two days after arriving in foster care. But don’t worry, he’s safe, sound, and ready to find his forever family who will keep both his heart and paws exactly where they belong.
Ato is a gentle, quiet soul with a big love for life and an even bigger love for exploring. He’s high energy and happiest when he’s out on the trails, sniffing, running, and enjoying the world around him. On leash, Ato is still learning good manners. He can pull or jump when excited, but he’s a quick learner & highly food motivated and so responds beautifully to consistent guidance.
While he may be shy and hesitant when meeting new people, Ato just needs a bit of time and patience. Once he trusts you, he’s all heart-affectionate, loyal, and full of kisses. He’s not much of a barker, prefers to avoid loud situations, and would rather quietly observe until he’s ready to join in.
Ato would thrive in a home with another confident dog for playtime and to show him the ropes, he would benefit from humans who understand his need for structure, patience, and daily exercise. A fully secure yard is a must, as this curious boy loves the outdoors and can be quite the escape artist.
Ato’s ideal family is active, attentive, and energetic, ready to match his zest for life. Seniors or low-activity homes may not be the best fit, as this boy truly shines when he can stretch his legs and explore. He would thrive with adopters willing to train him on leash walking, basic commands and most importantly help him build confidence with new humans. His current fosters are showing him that stairs aren’t so scary, he has managed to successfully climb small staircases rather than having to be carried up.
If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who will make you laugh, join you on every adventure, and reward your patience with endless affection, Ato is your guy.
Rescue Background: Ato was rescued from the Sunchang City Shelter in Korea, where he had spent nearly two years. Sadly, he was recently placed on the euthanasia list, which prompted his rescue. We are now also preparing to rescue his sister, Ttubi, who is still in the shelter.
