Meet Efrain!

This playful and affectionate pup is currently looking for his forever home. He was found tied up outside a shelter with another dog, but he quickly showed his sweet and loving nature to the shelter staff. Now, he's ready to leave his past behind and become a loyal friend to a new family.

Efrain loves toys, thrives on cuddles, and enjoys being the center of attention. His excitement when interacting with people and other dogs is contagious—he’ll jump with joy at the chance to play. At the same time, his gentle and noble demeanor makes him a great and well-balanced companion. Efrain is a fast learner and very smart. He’s working on redirecting his play biting and not jumping up when excited. He loves being pet and enjoys belly rubs and cuddles when calm. He’s also good in the car and doesn’t hesitate through doorways or with stairs.

Training and Behavior:

• Crate Trained: Efrain is working on crate training. He sleeps in his crate at night and when his foster parents are out. He’s encouraged to enter the crate with treats.
• Potty Trained: Efrain is making progress with potty training. He needs to go outside every 3-4 hours to avoid accidents indoors.
• Commands: Efrain knows several commands including sit, wait, OK (to go), “let’s go” (to go outside or back inside), and AH AH (no/stop).
• Leash Training: He’s great on walks but needs some leash work to avoid weaving back and forth.

Social Skills:

• Good with Kids: Efrain is good with kids over 6 years old.
• Good with Other Dogs: He loves playing with other dogs and has good manners while meeting them. He’s excited and wants to play but respects other dogs’ boundaries.
• Good with Cats: Yes.
• Vocal: Efrain barks sometimes when excited, during play, or when someone’s at the door.

Ideal Home: Efrain would do best with an active family who can match his playful energy and provide plenty of opportunities for exercise and fun. Whether in a house or an apartment, access to parks and green spaces will keep him happy. He’s great with other dogs, so a home with furry friends would be ideal, yet not necessary.
