Hi my name is Joell! My foster mom likes to call me Joey and I'll answer to it!
Joell arrived from Korea a few weeks ago and after his decompression period is ready for his furever family! He is both potty and crate trained. He is good with middle school and older kids. This snuggly boy is untested with cats but the foster is happy to test him if an interested adopter inquires. Joell can be slow to warm up to other dogs and needs proper introductions but shows no signs of distress or aggression - just sometimes wants space or is uninterested. Joell would do great as an only dog or good with another dog with slow and proper introduction. However, his foster believes he would do best in a home with another confident dog that he can learn from. Much like with dogs, Joell can be selective or take time to warm up to a person. However, if given time and patience - he loves his humans especially when given attention and pets. Once he figures you out, he is very affectionate and there are no areas he cannot be handled/touched.
Joell loves the outdoors and would excel with a family that can take him on adventures. It is important to note, Joey does not have the best leash manners and often pulls on the leash. Joell can sometimes be noise reactive and he may stop walking or shake if uncomfortable, so he will need someone patient and dedicated to continue leash training. Although he hesitates sometimes with doorways or stairs, his foster notes he does great in elevators and has no issues with people coming in and out of elevators or meeting strangers on different floors of his foster's building.
Foster Update: Joey is more of a velcro dog, so, he will always need your attention. A house that has the time to give him the attention he needs will be perfect. Anyone willing to help him with training - giving him lots of patience and love so that he can trust the world and open fully would allow him to thrive. Joell's ideal home would be one with a yard and a patient adopter that will allow him to come around on his own time.
