Everyone... meet Jonah! This 1 year old, 20lb pug mix is ready for his active forever family. Jonah hails from our partners in Texas, where he graduated from the Rusk County Second Chance Initiative prison dog training program, achieving his Canine Good Citizen status. This program is an opportunity for the inmates to gain job skills in dog training, communication, leadership, organizational skills as well as building confidence for life outside of prison. For the dog, it is an opportunity to learn skills that will help them be successful in their future adoptive home.

From his Canadian foster mom:
Jonah is cat friendly, but needs redirection, he will chase my cat, but listens to commands. He is friendly with my kids, he's dog friendly and respectful. He is house trained and crate trained. He's a catch!! Let me tell you why, he has basic training under his belt, friendly, respectful, and cutting his nails wasn't the worst. He handles correction from my dog very well and adapts easily. He isn't enjoying the snow yet, but will always go out when needed. His energy seems to be low to medium, but he does enjoy a good play session. He is VERY food motivated, which works wonders! He needs some more leash work. He still pulls, but he is not horrible on it"

Ideal home - Those that are willing to include him in their lives. Keep up on his training, he loves it and it's great for him and his people, so it is a must! A home with another well-mannered, friendly dog, that enjoys play sessions would be great. Jonah is a great dog, he has proven to be a quick learner and a dog that thrives on pleasing, he is a good snuggler and deserves his perfect forever family.
