Maji: A Sweet, Loving Pup Ready for Her Forever Home!
Maji is a calm, affectionate, and playful 2-year-old who is ready to find her forever home! She’s fantastic with kids, spending lots of time with them in her foster home and enjoying their company. Maji’s gentle nature makes her an excellent choice for families with children, she loves playing with them and matching their energy.
Maji is dog-friendly and gets along well with her foster siblings, but she is still working on being less excitable and reactive toward other dogs when on a leash outside. With a bit more training, she’ll continue improving her leash manners and become even better on walks. Maji also has a strong prey drive outdoors, which means she may get excited by small animals, so she’ll need continued guidance to help her stay focused.
In terms of potty training, Maji is making progress transitioning to outdoor potty breaks, though she’s still used to pee pads and will reliably use them if available. When left alone Maji does very well. Maji has lived with a cat in her previous foster home and showed little interest and no aggression - making her compatible for a cat friendly home.
Maji’s Backstory:
When Maji was found, she had two fractures in her right leg. One was located in the upper part of the leg and had a plate inserted, while the other fracture, in the lower part of the leg, had healed improperly and bent outward. The area with the plate became inflamed over time, so Maji underwent surgery to have it removed.
Though Maji’s paw nerves are still functional, her leg remains in its current state. While surgery to realign the bones was considered, the vet advised against it due to the high risks involved, including amputation and reattachment. The bones would likely not heal properly, so it was decided that leaving it as is would be the best option for Maji’s long-term health and comfort.
Despite her past injury, Maji is not in pain and gets around just fine. She manages well, and her leg doesn’t hinder her daily life. She’s an energetic and loving girl who enjoys being active and playful, and she doesn’t let her leg hold her back!
