I've found my furever family!

Pompeya was found abandoned in Mexico. Our rescue partners noticed her sitting in the same spot outside, at the same house for a few days.  After noticing she wouldn't move from her space, they began asking questions as if she was a stray. They quickly found out that her "owners" had kicked her out of the house and left her to the streets. It began to make sense why she wouldn't go far as she was used to the only place she knew as "home".

 

With a heartbreaking but unfortunately common story like this, Pompeya was taken to the shelter and began to trust people again. She is a very calm, noble and loving dog, who can be a bit shy at the beginning but will give you all her love and devotion once she gets to know you. She is very playful with both humans and other dogs, and adores receiving a good petting session or belly scratches. We have notice Pomp is a very intelligent, independent and obedient girl, which is why we think she’ll have an easy time learning new habits. She is already potty trained, but is still adjusting to going into the crate. Once into the crate, she does not fuss and tends to adjust. She is food motivated and is still learning how to be a dog! She would benefit from owners willing to continue showing her the ropes and desensitizing her to the outdoor world, walks and meeting new friends!

 

The best place for Pompeya is a house or an apartment with access to a backyard or other green areas nearby where she can play around and do outdoor activities. She will be especially happy with an affectionate family who keeps her company, shows her love and above all, never ever abandons her.

Canadian Foster Update:

This lady has a gentle soul and heart of gold. An ideal home would be with a family who can spend lots of time with her (on outdoor excursions or lazy days); she is also awesome with cats and seems to enjoy the company of a companion dog. We are a house of two humans, a dog, and 2 elderly cats and so it’s a pretty relaxed environment which she does well in. We think a home without too much chaos/noise would suit her well. Though she might adapt! She has the best ears and the cutest little dot on her nose! She also looks constantly worried which is super cute!! She is a gentle lady who deserves all the love and care! She doesn’t make a lot of noise (barks are rare).
