This sweet and calm girl is finally ready for adoption! Truffie is crate trained and does well when left alone during long periods, however at the end of the day she is very well attached to her humans and enjoys being near them. She is currently being fostered with fur siblings and responds in a happy & playful way, learning dog cues is a learning process for her. Trufflez was a very nervous girl when she first arrived in Canada. She has taken a couple of weeks to finally get settled in and her foster has noticed her beginning to build self-confidence when it comes to walks, learning new tricks and being apart of the pack. She is food motivated and if given enough patience and time, Trufflez loves to be pet!
Trufflez ideal home would a quiet household within a single or couples home with less simulation going as she will take time to adjust to a new environment. We do believe she would do best in a home with another confident and submissive dog. She needs a patient handler dedicated to bringing her out of her shell through time and exposing her to new situations to help build her confidence.
Trufflez (we like to call her Truffie) came to us as a very frightened girl. She hid in her crate for the first 24 hours then ventured out slowly to the caged in area surrounding her crate. She left that area after a couple of more days. At first everything spooked her - noise - movement - and her tail remained firmly between her legs. After 2 weeks we got her outside for a walk. While she was tentative she definitely enjoyed exploring her new environment. Every day since sees her growing her confidence and comfort level with everything. Teaching her to use the stairs was hilarious. She spread her toes so wide as if she was holding on to the side of a mountain. Now she comfortably explores everything in her world.
She is sweet, gentle and soft. She waits patiently while I put on her harness and leash. She can be touched anywhere. She rarely barks but will cry when she is uncomfortable or wants our company. She sleeps quietly through the night but reminds you in the morning that she is waiting for you. She loves to run around the backyard. She loves to chew on her toys. She walks relatively well on leash. She mostly likes to check behind her in case she’s missed something. She is crate trained and house trained. Now that she is much more confident we will start on some basic training. However in general her manners are already excellent.
She loves her humans. She loves her dog siblings. She doesn’t seem to understand dog language however so if she had a fur sibling that dog would need to be very chill. She has the sweetest temperament. She loves treats. When I work from home she quietly sleeps on her dog bed. When I work out of the home, she is comfortable being alone for the day. I think she may take a little time to warm up to someone new, but her sweet nature and adorable face will make it worthwhile.
